Shooter writes a good column. I read his more than Grandpa Sports'. As far as no ballpark adjustments, I think he means the fences. The LED ribbons and scoreboards and other bells and whistles will be tinkered with for aeons.

Holding a pitcher accountable for how many runs his team scores is like holding the designated hitter accountable for how many runs his team allows.

An individual statistic is meaningful only if it is based strictly on what the player does and not on what the other players on his team do.

Amazing pics! I love to see all these open concourse stadiums because you see so many people standing and watching the game while eating or just stretching their legs, we don't get that at the trop.

Question though, do you think the roof covers that many seats?

    The Interchange at Target Field

    http://www.theinterchange.net

The Interchange will serve as a central, multi-modal transportation hub and community gathering space in downtown Minneapolis.

Located next to Target Field, connected to the North Loop neighborhood and adjacent to the historic Warehouse District, this unique destination will connect communities by linking the region's growing light and commuter rail transit network, as well as more than 1,900 daily bus operations and miles of bike and walking trails.
The Interchange will open in 2014.

That link (theinterchange.com) doesn't work. You get some Microsoft internet site.

    I think you mean theinterchange.NET...

I was fortunate to go to Target Field twice in the last two weeks. The first time, vs. the Phillies, I sat in section 115, row 4, seat 1. Decent view:

The second, the team I broadcast for on the radio (Bemidji HS) made the state championship game, which was played there. They lost, unfortunately, in a pitchers duel, 1-0, but I got to broadcast from the press box. Here's the view of the game before ours from my booth:

It was a whirl-wind experience, and I really wish I would have taken more pictures. My color analyst did take a picture of me in the booth, but he hasn't sent it to me. If you are interested in listening to my broadcast, you can listen to an archive here:

Jim Thome finally recovers his 607th home-run ball

Last month, Thome hit his 607th career homer at Target Field – where he played for the Twins in 2010 and most of 2011 – and it landed in the shrubbery just beyond the top of the outfield wall in right-center.

Good they deserve it with that great looking park, but I still wish the cubs would get it soon again.

They better hope that gleaming new transit hub is done in time for the ASG...

Don't worry if it's not no one will care like when St. Louis didn't finish the ballpark village like they planned for their all star game.

^ At least the ballpark village isn't essential for fans to get there. If the transit hub's not done in Minn, it could cause massive headaches by the ASG's time.

Although the hub's site says it'll be done in Spring of '14, so I suppose they're working on it...

Are they replacing an existing hub?

I am confident that The Interchange will be completed on time. The Interchange is a new hub that will connect this project with other current and future transit projects and is located right outside Target Field. The Central Corridor Light Rail, which will connect Minneapolis and St. Paul is expected to be completed by 2013. These two projects are linked together and there is a strong push to make sure both make their completion deadlines.

Also, Target Center will most likely have a different look. They are currently discussing renovations plans with a temporary start date for the end of the year. The rendering gives you an idea of what it might look if you were sitting in Target Field. Pretty cool bar/lounge to watch the game from.

There was already a commuter/light rail station at Target Field, I don't know how (if) it will be integrated into this thing they're building.

How is the steepness of the outfield seats here? Is it as bad as us celluar or skydome?

    From /www.sportsbusinessdaily.com on 10/3/12...

The Twins, pending approval tomorrow by the Minnesota Ballpark Authority, will build a new branded destination at Target Field for single-game ticket buyers and group sales. The new 200-seat space in right field replaces bleacher seating in sections 139, 140 and 141 with seven rows of stools with backs, plus drink rails. The retrofit will improve sightlines for all fans by eliminating a block of obstructed view seats in right field, Twins officials said. A canopy at the back of sections 139 and 140 will provide partial cover and a heating element for those ticket holders. Ticket prices for the new seating area will be announced soon, officials said. The new space, similar to the Budweiser Roof Deck in left field, will have a title sponsor. The Twins are in talks with potential sponsors but to date no deal has been signed, officials said. The old bleacher seats will be donated to St. Paul youth baseball fields. In addition, the Twins will extend the concourse platform in Section 141 with additional drink rails to improve traffic flow between gates 34 and 29. The Twins are financing the upgrades but would not disclose project costs. Construction begins this month and will be completed in January, with the stools installed in March. HGA, a Minneapolis architect, is designing the space and Mortenson is building it.

Here is what was proposed during the early design stages of Target Field

Hi everyone, just joined the forum not long ago. There's something really neat about ballparks in downtown areas I feel. Been to a few minor league games in Greensboro which is pretty neat.

    Right Field Bleacher Project

More information on the new right field area at Target Field for next year...

The Twins wanted to create another destination spot for fans. This change will also improve the sight lines by removing the obstructive views. It will also hopefully reduce fan congestion in this area.

The area will have seven rows of drink rails with stools that have backs. It will also include a canopy that will provide radiant heating during the colder weather games. They will also created another standing area for all fans to watch the game from.

The new area will be for group sales, but they will also sell some single game tickets. Ticket prices have not been released.

Took a few screencaps of a recent Twins-Yankees game. Really liked this view:

Target is a great new ballpark, but I'm not fond of that high right field wall. I think having the fans closer to the field would look better and give them a better experience. As is the case with right field in Camden Yards, I wonder how Target would look with low fences all along right field, with fans right on top of the field.

    View of home plate area:

So glad to see baseball being played in Minnesota out in the sunlight, after decades in the Metrodome:
