Magic # is 14 to make playoffs. Rays need to stay focused today with the Yankees on the horizon in 7 of their next 11 games.

Great game tonight so far...0-0 going to the bottom of the 8th...Rays only 1 hit though. I would take a walkoff win tonight, but would rather score now and trot Soriano out again to make up for yesterday...

Yankees are a disgrace, while rays are a well run franchise.

why are the yanks a disgrace(aren't you a yankee fan?)? they won it all 27 times and are the defending champion.

don't get me wrong I'm a yanks hater and hope the Tampa wins the division, but I respect that they are the best franchise in baseball history.

Tonight's game is the complete opposite of last night. 6-0 NY lead becomes 7-6 Rays lead, now NY ties it right back up and are still batting. I correctly predicted a walkoff win last night, so let's make it 2 in a row

Another nailbiter tonight. I don't trust Shields for much longer in this game. I wonder if Soriano would even be available tonight?

Jeter the cheater? That ball hit the knob of the bat, not his elbow. He'd have a broken elbow if it did, with how far it traveled out into the field of play. I thought he had more class than that!!

And of course another bad call by the umpires costs the Rays

Maddon didnt' seem to mind Jeter's play:

Jeter, smiling slyly during his postgame exchange with the media, made no apologies for capitalizing on the opportunity.

"Well, (Barksdale) told me to go to first," he said. "I'm not going to tell him I'm not going to first. I mean, my job is to try to get on base."

Asked if he was responding to the vibration from the ball hitting the end of his bat or acting when he shook his arm, Jeter said, "Vibration. And acting. Both."

Maddon said he didn't have a problem with Jeter's gamesmanship and would have applauded a Rays player doing the same thing.
