World Cup in Venezuela August 12 - 22

Anyone have further details about the Women's World Cup? So far I have this:

It seems as though they'll play the pool games in three different locations and then come together in a fourth place for the qualifiers and presumably the finals.

Just checked that link and it doesn't go anywhere at the moment. Try this one instead: http://www.fevebaseball.com/index.php?p=custom10

Apparently there's a new draw. Now it's 2 pools of 6 teams rather than 3 of 4. http://www.awbf.org/ The sites are all different too.

The tourney's started. Cuba scored 21 to beat South Korea, Venezuela routed the Netherlands, Canada beat Australia 6-1, Japan beat the USA 5-1 and Taiwan romped past Hong Kong in a near no-hitter.http://www.baseball-reference.com/bu...ball_World_Cup

BTW, shouldn't this be cross-posted to the International Baseball forum here?

Exclamation Shooting Incident at World Cup

Hadn't thought of that, I've only ever been here, but certainly probably now. The tournament games at a ground in Caracas have been suspended when one of the players from Hong Kong was shot in the leg during the game. All teams from that ground are now back in their hotels safely ensconced. Reports suggest that the Hong Kong player is OK now. Authorities are in talks about what is going to happen next.

Both rounds have now been played and the top four are: 1 - Japan, 2 - Venezuela, 3 - Australia and 4 - USA. Canada and Cuba are 5th and 6th. Australia and Venezuela play tomorrow afternoon with Japan and US later in the evening. The losers play for bronze on Sunday followed by the winners vying for gold/silver.

    Go the Aussies!!!!!

I'm surprised they held a tournament in Venezuela. I have a couple of friends who grew up there and won't go back. I know a couple of minor leaguers who turned down opportunities to play winter ball there. If you have any money you're in danger of kidnap for ransom.
