    Phillies and Cliff Lee

So I'm reading reports of rumors on Amaro possibly trying to re-acquire Cliff Lee.

Personally, I didn't understand Amaro's thinking on trading Lee to begin with. He could have kept Lee AND had Halladay! I don't think Phils got much in trading away Lee which baffled (almost angered me and I'm not even a fan) me even more.

Lee had an option for $8M base and that's pennies for an Ace! Money Amaro dumped in the off-season could have been used to pay Lee: $1M on Brian Schneider, $1.3M on Ross Gload, $2.5M on Danys Baez could . I'm sure Amaro could have used his Farm system to get the type of production that Schneider, Gload and Baez are providing him...and for pennies.

    And that's my 2 cents ....
"After my fourth season I asked for $43,000 and General Manager Ed Barrow told me, 'Young man, do you realize Lou Gehrig, a 16-year-man, is playing for only $44,000?' I said, Mr. Barrow, there is only one answer to that - Mr. Gehrig is terribly underpaid."- Yankees outfielder Joe DiMaggio

I don't think the Phils have a shot this year with Lee. Don't have the prospects except for Brown who they won't give up.

Maybe Amaro was overly confident with the Halladay-Hamels-Blanton-Happ-Moyer rotation and the hitting coming into the season but he has not impressed me since he took over especially with the Ibanez, Polanco and (super especially) Howard contracts.

But man if they did get him back, it would be crazy. Lee is one of the most likable players in the MLB

I want the Mariners to keep Lee and not trade him!
