Actually, no. The stadium is just to the north of the flight path and due to the dry desert air you seldom hear engine noise inside the park. Most flights are required to bank to the south for noise abatement over the city.

Flights usually take off and land heading west due to the prevailing west winds, but you don't have anywhere the racket at Shea/Citi.

    CBP and LFF in Philly

Same area early 90's, with the Vet, Spectrum and JFK Stadium, just west of the above (all gone now)

Same 3 from the early 70's, but looking south.

Kauffman (Royal Stadium at the time) and Arrowhead from the '80s, with the blasphemous use of astroturf in a single-use outdoor stadium.

Most of those Fenways appear to be taken from atop either Prudie or Hancock - My film photo is an album in my parents' attic. It was taken nearly 20 years ago.
RYS to NYS: "Obi-Lonn never told you what happened to your father."

NYS: "He told me enough. He told me you killed him - in the 1970s!!"

RYS: "No, I am your father..."

NYS: "No, it's not true, that's impossible!!!!"

RYS: "Look beyond my respirator pods and my upper crown; you know it to be true!

I know somewhere on this Earth exists at least one photo of both Shea and RYS! Somewhere. Probably a good low or distant angle that allowed for both parks to be foreshortened via telephoto lens out a passenger window.

Perhaps a similar setup of NYS and Citi will be snapped from a plane one day and make it on this board.

3 NYC area stadiums are in this approx 5 year old photo...and all are now gone.

Here's a night shot. Shea is just out of range, but there's no mistaking RYS.

    Wait....
    Where is the ballpark?

This is the location that the city offered to the White Sox to build their new park and they said no thanks.
    Idiots!

WOW. That is easily the best photo in this thread - the most beautiful, and also the most depressing. Ugh. WHY are ballparks everywhere being torn down?! Don't people have any sense of history? Today I heard that that old ballpark in Omaha used for the College World Series, one of the oldest ballparks still around that's so steeped in history, is being needlessly torn down for some other "state of the art," probably HOK - no, I'm sorry, "Populous" - facility, probably with a quirky outfield and such fantastic, roofless sightlines that will blow your mind! And the Omaha AAA team isn't even staying there, they're tearing it down and building another stadium. Disgusting.

Polo Grounds are in the top left, Yankee Stadium bottom right, Macombs Dam Bridge near Yankee Stadium over East River, old subway extension bridge over East River near Polo Grounds

Yankee Stadium bottom right, New Yankee Stadium just north, Polo Grounds apartments top left

Shea and unfinished Citi in the foreground, Manhattan in the background

Anaheim Stadium and it's senic surroundings, including an unfinished interstate beyond the outfield

Two Yankee Stadiums, the Bronx, and Manhattan near the top

Overhead view of two Yankee Stadiums

    Riverfront Stadium and the River

Citizen's Bank Park in the center, Lincoln Financial Field in the bottom left, and the Spectrum in the top left

The Mississippi River in the front, the Gateway Arch in the center, and old Busch Stadium right behind it

Miller Park and it's parking lot, downtown Milwaukee at the top, and Lake Michigan even father towards the top

That's all for now, I'm tired
