BBF VC Progressive HoF Contributors Election: 1991

Below is our master ballot of contributors. Please feel free to suggest new candidates to consider as I'm only caretaker of this end of the project and could have easily overlooked someone:

The following participants ballots will be counted though anyone is free to post a ballot, nominate a player or add to the discussion whether or not they are a member of the committee:

    Leecemark
    Jalbright
    Fielding Marshall
    Ace Venom
    dgarza
    Paul Wendt
    jjpm74
    cowtipper
    PVNick
    SavoyBG
    Brad Harris
    Domenic

Since there are no voting limit restrictions for the Players VC, you can vote for as many contributors as you wish. If a blank ballot is cast here, there should be a justification for it.

Voting will commence immediately and conclude when the regular 1986 election concludes which is Sunday July 18 at 3:10 PM EST. Any contributor appearing on a minimum of 9 ballots (or 75% of the ballots submitted if all 12 members do not vote) is elected. No tallying will be done until time has expired and I ask that participants please refrain from posting comments about who the front runners are. Participants are encouraged to post ballots early and may edit as many times as they wish up to the voting deadline. They do not need to contact me if they make a change.

    So who's new this time?

It may be useful to maintain both the ballot and the dropped together in one master list. Use a status field to generate the two lists from one. Then no one will be double listed (Jack Dunn, Frank Osborn, Grantland Rice, Wilbert Robinson, Sol White, others?).

Does "nomination" really mean some number of write-in votes? From the dropped, not duplicated on the official ballot, I have voted for Frank Bancroft and C.I. Taylor. From out of the blue I have nominated Larry Ritter.

One outsider for consideration next time is the founder of SABR, Bob Davids (1926-2002). That's all for me. Your past and present process, Ace, seems likely to turn up anyone likely to be a candidate for salaried work, on the other hand, which is the industry employees broadly defined.

Something happened and I missed five days.

We have (promptly) elected Jocko Conlan and now Al Barlick. Limiting myself to the HOF umpires, how do they stand out vs Chylak, Evans, Hubbard, and McGowan?

I would really like to hear more on all 4. I have been supporting Cal Hubbard, but do not have a confident grasp on umpires and what it takes to separate an HOF umpire from a non-HOF umpire.
