Hey, we love our airplane hangar!

Seriously, I'm not much of a fan either, but the darkness is pretty much necessary. Light=heat here in Phoenix. It's not fun.

As for generic, I would say it is, but still unique. It's generic in that it's very plain--has everything that every other modern ballpark has, and there is not much, if at all to really look at in the park...or even when they have the big windows open.

It's really a shame because views of Squaw Peak and Camelback Mountain would have been amazing.

Also, for quick clarification, those "windows" that you mention are actually massive panels that swing open when the roof is open. It's supposed to increase ventilation and give a more open feel. It might do the first, but definitely not the second.

When the roof is open, it feels more like sitting in a car at night with the sun roof open, you definitely know you're still in something. Not to mention that when the roof is open, you can hear tons of planes taking off from Sky Harbor.

Kind of fits since it looks like an airplane hangar anyway.

Now our wonderful, world's largest baked potato...I mean University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale--home of the Arizona Cardinals (wrap your head around that, three different locations listed) is something I can't comment on as I've never been there. I assume its a very similar feeling though.

I'm not sure which stairs you mean; I haven't noticed any that I'd call "great." I haven't seen the indoor part of the club level, though I've been in pretty much every other ticketed part of the park.

I hope those plans come to fruition, and I hope the Nationals organization and the city both continue looking for ways to genuinely integrate the park with the city in many different ways.

Chase Field is not a ballpark I would even consider thinking of as "generic". It does very much stand out.

Sorry, it is the "Grand Staircase."
