It's just occurred to me that the winners of the runoff this time around will not get a shot on the main ballot.

Would a mini-election of the run-off winners only make sense? It could be that one or two of them will sail in.

It's inconceivable to me that we haven't already seen all of the possible electees among the 80 players that have appeared on the ballot. OTOH, there's no harm in pursuing such a mini-election as you suggest. I leave it to you to conduct however you wish. I might even vote.

I will also add my thanks to all the BBFers who made this a successful project.

They need three years to sail into the here-so-called Hall of the Very Good.

Bytheway if this project were to continue forever, how would the members of the HOVG be distinguished? Only by the sequence of their recognition?

The image in my mind is of three primary levels in the Universe of Honors:

Level 1. The Hall of Fame
Level 2. Purgatory (players that belong in the HOF)
Level 3. HOVG (equal in size to the HOF)

The number of players to include at present:
1. 231
2. 56 (Including Trouppe)
3. 231

For a total of the top 518 players eligible. (Including players not eligible, e.g., active, banned or NABBP stars, it comes to about the top 600 players of all time.)

I do not plan to try and fill up the HOVG any time soon, so anyone is welcome to do that project.

I think this would be a good idea. It would be very fun.

I was imagining a one-off election for the top 7-10 in the run-off, just to see if anyone would have 75% off the bat.

If someone wants to take it further, I'm game, but my notion was pretty modest.

I would like to see Collaboration v2.0 get rolling again. It may have stalled after #227 but suppose that it recovers and completes the 500. How would that be different from filling the Hall of the Very Good? (500 isn't 600 so Dan's HOVG wouldn't be nearly full, but that isn't what I mean.)

And the "Top 100 Pitchers" directed by jjpm, which actually named 200 in batches of twenty. How is that different from filling the HOVG?
