What's the problem with this? He just stated that he thinks M. is not as bad as taking roids.

I asked a basic question. From my experience, the virulently anti-steroid crowd hasn't even bothered to understand what steroids actually are or do. They just see or hear the word and automatically act like the worst thing in the world has been done. Yet doctors prescribe steroids everyday for a number of highly valid reasons. It's base-level reaction like that I as a poster have a problem with.

But steroids don't have much to do with the thread. Apples and oranges.

They provide huge health risks and can't be abused for out of medical contest(which is only done with severe muscle diseases when the disease is worse than side effects).

Do you know about the victims of the doping system of the GDR?

Tolerance is good but talking down the dangers of steroids is a foolish and dangerous thing IMO.

Why do todays players need steroid if the babe and ted wiliams could play without?

My argument is a lot of people are condemning steroids for the sake of condemning steroids. It's true.

I don't believe most of the people doing that give a darn about health risks to the user.

But I digress. Tim Lincecum. Marijuana bust. That's all to see here.

Uhh, yes. I do. While many out there don't know much about steroids, remember that much of the anti-steroid crowd IS educated on the subject. Steroids do have certain legitimate medical uses, much like opiates for pain. Steroids used in an unsafe manner are FAR worse for you than Marijuana.

I don't get all that angry at the players who took steroids. I don't look at them as bad people. I am concerned for their health.

If you don't want people to go in directions not related to Linecum, than don't make comments like this. There are now several posts related to your response. If you want to make a big deal about people going off topic then don't do so yourself. You are just as bad as the other folks. If you are going to delete their posts then yours should be deleted as well.

As to Lincecum, this should be no different than being caught buying a 12 pack. Professional athletes are not saints. They did not get to where they are by being perfect people. They are great athletes, nothing more, nothing less. I don't know enough about Lincecum's pot use to know if he has a problem with it. He was not caught with very much. Pot is looked at as a problem if someone uses it, while alcohol is only looked at as a problem if someone's actions on it are out of line.

The officer smelled pot in the car. Does that mean smoke, or the actual skunk weed? He should not be smoking in the car. To me, someone that is inebriated to the point where it affects their driving skills should not be behind the wheel. It does not matter whether or not it is pot or alcohol. If Lincecum took a hit off a pipe, then relaxed for a while and went home, I have no problem with that. It is not any different than driving after one beer. If he smoked several bowls, got blazed out of his mind and then drove, that is a different story. I don't know enough about the situation to comment, but from what I have heard he is not being charged with a dui.

Does Washington state have a medical marijuana law? If Lincecum likes to smoke weed from time to time he should get a card. To my knowledge, they are not too hard to get in California.

I don't think he should be disciplined by baseball. This is just not a very big deal.
