Baseball Card Collecting 101

[quote=dabigyankeeman;1643553]

"The joy of owning a large collection of Yankees baseball cards is priceless, to have cards of all these guys is so fantastic, and gee, the Yankee cards are more expensive than other teams cards, even for commons. I wonder why?" - dabigyankeeman.

You obviously haven't heard of the concept of Regionality in Baseball Card Collecting. The Yankees cards are worth more - but only in the New York area. Reds cards are worth quite a bit more in Cincinnati than in other areas and so on.
If you ever sell your Yankees collection, make sure you sell it to a New York collector or a NY dealer, because you'll get a lot more for them than in other regions of the country. You may get more for Yankee cards on the heels of a new championship, but only marginally.

P.S.: Bragging about the size of your collection is Not Cool. - Philly-brownsfan.

Most everyone knows that Reds cards are worth the most in Cincinnati and Yankees cards are worth the most in NY. But, in neutral sites (eg. Texas), common Yankee cards are worth more than common Reds cards.

Not true. Of course regionality makes home team cards the most expensive. But its widely known that people all over the country go after Yankee cards and that they are worth more than other teams.

As to "bragging" about the size of my collection is not cool, again wrong, why have false modesty? Anyone with a large collection of anything, be it Yankees or Mariners or a player they like has the right to mention it and be proud of it and brag about it. I am proud of my collection, and i dont have to keep quiet about it. If you have one single card, you can brag about it. Nothing wrong with that. Just typical attitude of an anti-Yankee guy.

it gets old

disagreeing with you on something does not make them hate the yankees, yankee fans or new york

it does make YOU look bad by falling into the trap of saying that all the time

You are 100% right! You know, Yankee fans take so much crapola over the years, that we start to automatically take critisizm as just more Yankee hatred, which is not true.

I agree with you on your point above, I take back the part about you posting that because you hate the Yankees. My bad.

That said, i still DO feel there is nothing wrong with being proud of your collection, no matter what it is, and talking (you say bragging) about it.

Yeah, it was Philly-brownsfan, but man, i try to be nice and admit a mistake, and i do it wrong. Not my day. Hey, look, at least you got a Yankee fan here being nice. We are not all bad, and while many of us really are obnoxious, a lot of us are just having fun and make a lot of tongue-in-cheek posts. Yes, we DO feel like we have the best, most superior team, but we are not all as obnoxious as so many think we are. (just sometimes! LOL).

Oh well, lets see if the Yankees and Phillies have what it takes to meet in the series again next year.

The Yankees are the greatest franchise in American sports history and I am not a Yankees fan. It really is not close in my opinion.

I can't imagine what kind of dictionary you have. I have access to the Oxford English Dictionary online database, and you won't even find that spelling there. Also,

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/elitest

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/elitest

http://www.onelook.com/?w=elitest&ls=a

http://www.yourdictionary.com/search...litest&x=0&y=0

http://dictionary.cambridge.org/resu...litest&x=0&y=0

You might want to get a dictionary that's gotten with the times.
