Nicaraguan League (LNBP) starts today and Colombian (LCBP) league started a couple of days ago. The LCBP website is not very informative.

That's a great logo, sadly, Puerto Rico wont be participating in the upcoming CWS, I hope the Dominican Republic win again the Series by an easy margin, good luck.

I do not undesrtand why Puello does not want to invite Nicaragua to replace Puerto Rico for this year. That does not mean he is going to give Nicaragua automatic entry to the series. The AFL currently is hosting big China and the USA team. Who cares? Invite Nicaragua!

I agree, but if this were to happen. How would the Colombian league see this?

In Puerto Rico, they were considering an alternate tournament because of the cancellation of the upcoming season, but still no word.

This past week ESPN Outside the Lines did a report on the cancellation of the LBPPR. It doesn't look like there be any tournament this season. Hopefully the league will be up and running next year.

Caribbean Winter Leagues 2007-08

This is a fascinating thread, because access to info on these leagues is so limited. Thanks to all the posters for keeping us informed better than our local newspapers do.

My contribution is to share some of my research on longest games in these countries by listing all of the games SO FAR FOUND in these nations which have lasted five hours or more, or 20 innings or more, or the longest game in the nation's history if none have lasted that long.

If you know of any such games or records that I am missing, please share with us on this thread. Thanks again to all the posters.

Dominican League

Round Robin stage is all set to start on 12/26:

Usual suspects Licey and Aguilas are both going for their twentieth title
Estrellas (Stars) are looking to end their title drought since 1968, they represent San Pedro de Macoris; the Dominican city that has produced the most MLB players.
Gigantes are the newest franchise and have been impressive in the last few seasons. They are looking for their first League title.

Great stuff

I am so mad at my Mexicali Aguilas. I was at the Christmas Day game. They won, but I knew it wouldn't matter. They were just too bad early to overcome it. Now I'm going to have to fly somewhere for the playoffs. Probably Mazatlan again since I have a time share there, but I want to see a new stadium so we'll see.

It looks like I'll finally get a Caribbean World Series in without the Aguilas from Venezuela. They were there in Mazatlan in '05 and this year in Puerto Rico. Looks like some new blood for me this year. With two teams from the Dominican scheduled to play in Santiago, I would not be surprised if I see the Aguilas from that league playing at home and in my 3rd straight SDC. I would rather see Licey and Estralla, but it would be hard to match the excitement of the Aguilas playing at home. Their fans were amazing in Puerto Rico so they'll be even better at home. I just hope Alex Cabrera comes from Venezuela. I got to meet him in Japan when I saw him there. He signed one of his homers in the Mazatlan series for me. Can't wait for some Caribbean World Series!!!!
