I will have to check out the Mayer book. I recently published my own fan memoir entitled
"Six Decades of Baseball: A Personal Narrative".

My recent reads include the Joe Cronin bio by Mark Armour (excellent)
and "Evaluating the Managers" by Chris Jaffe (thoroughly researched; lots of interesting content).
