According to Cubs Chairman Crane Kenny, who did a radio interview this morning on Espn 1000, the Cubs have two big deals that are in the works and will hopefully be completed shortly. He would not specify, of course, who the deals were for, other than he thought that they both will be looked at as high profile signings or trades.

Most likely one of the deals will not be for the best pitcher in baseball, Johan Santana. Who, according to reports out of Minnesota, will be traded in the next 10 days or so. The Mets are the team rumored to have the best shot at landing him in a trade. Kenny, stated "he liked the two deals that they have on the table, which won't deplete their team or farm system as much, as say going after a Johan Santana would".

But you never know, the Cubs could possibly land Santana but it's more realistic that the pitcher they are coveting is Lefty Eric Bedard from the Orioles, who would be a very nice pickup for the Cubs and they wouldn't have to trade the farm to get him.

Let me know what you guys think about this news?
