And it caused him to rarely hit the ball into the grass for several years. Only now, at age 13 am I letting him figure out how to use his hands to get the bat flat early, keep his rear elbow anchored throughout the swing and use his hands to accelerate the bat head around the hinge.
When the boxer throws a punch or the lumberjack swings his axe or the hitter swings his lumber, they have to have good hip and shoulder rotation to be the best, but that rotation in itself does not (IMO) power their swings as much as it is simply a vital piece to the chain.
