If the Roberts deal falls through (doubt it will but if) and when the Bedard deal falls through the potential starting outfield for the Orioles for the next 4-5 years would be Adam Jones, Felix Pie, Nick Markakis ... much better then having Roberts and Bedard leave in 2 years and have nothing in return .. if they trade them both they wont win more then 75 games or less then 65, if they keep them they wont win more then 77 games or less then 70 either way they won't win 81 games, and definitely will not contend in the AL East ... definitely should trade them imo.

Pie's totally overrated ... May not hit for average! Hasn't hit for power (no more than 15 HRS in any year & thats not at the majors)
Jones is the Orioles CF , Scott was brought in to play left ... If they bring in a 4th OF from the Cubs his name will be Murton ... A far better hitting /Power prospects than Pie!

Matt Murton - bbref.com
- Will be 26 years old this season.
- Guy already has three years' MLB experience.
- Most similar batter: Andre Ethier.
- Above average defender.
- RH, would platoon with Scott & spell Markakis.Last edited by J W; 02-05-2008, 06:26 AM.

If I were to trade Roberts, and Pie wasn't available, I would ask for:
- Murton
- Cedeno
- Either Marshall or Gallagher.
I wouldn't really want both pitchers if I could get Murton. Either Pie or Murton sets our five OFers. For the sake of Murton:
LF - Scott (Murton)
CF - Jones (Redman)
RF - Markakis (Murton)
...that is the best OF we'd have since, well certainly Surhoff-Anderson-Belle (1999). Wow, that was a big-time OF, even for the steroid era (300 hitter & two 400 OBP guys). Too bad the locker room was a mess.

I think JW is most likely correct, the outfield will most likely be:
LF- Luke Scott/Matt Murton (maybe Nolan Reimold if no Murton)
CF- Jones
RF- Markakis
Then in a few years it very possible that Billy Rowell could occupy LF in 2-3 years. He's currently playing 3rd, but alot of scouts think he's too big. So he'll either switch to OF or 1B. Definitely watch this kid in the minors this season. I think he's going to have a huge year and skyrocket to the top of alot of prospect lists this time next year.
