  • Article on Radhames Liz

    From MLB.com

Two things jump out at me from this article... one, in comparing Liz to the Cubs' Carlos Marmol, the team is not certain whether he will end up a starting pitcher or a reliever (the Cubs don't know what to do with Marmol either).

Two, the team is sending both Brian Burress and Matt Albers to the minors for a start, so they "don't miss their turn with us getting a day off". Whatever the team decides, their main focus will be to get as many of their young pitchers adequate time on the mound, whether in Baltimore or in Norfolk.

Which is ultimately a good thing. You want these guys throwing as much as possible against batters.

from the game today, the broadcasters (cubs that is) are saying that Marmol is the leading candidate to be their closer.

    Bring Teixeira to OPACY!
And put Baltimore back on the road jerseys at every other stadium!

I like Liz--saw him with Frederick--but I think the Orioles are making a mistake to even consider bringing him to Baltimore to start the season.

No doubt Liz needs to improve his control. With Patton out for the year, I think Liz makes the club by default.

Albers first. Olson second. Penn third. Then Liz fourth.

Sean Gallagher may get the 5th spot if the Roberts trade ever goes down. But I this point I think Albers should get it. Liz should spend at least a half season at AAA. Same with Penn, he needs to get back to form after all the injury problems he's had. Olson could start the season in the majors, but something wasn't working for him there last season. He could go either way, but I'd like for him to at least see a month in AAA.
