I met Wild Bill twice. The first time was before game 2 of the 79 AlCS. We were taking a piss beside each other in a bathroom very near Section 33. I got him to sign my program right there in the bathroom. He addressed it to my name, writing 'the bird will fly." The second time I talked to him was at Eddie's HOF induction at Cooperstown back in the summer of 2003. He was carrying a can of Miller, and was bombed out of his mind. I asked him if he ever heard of the Irish singer Shane MacGowan, and he said no. I encouraged him to listen to his music, and we went our seperate ways. Both times he was a gentleman. Does anyone else have any stories of Wild Bill Hagy encounters? He was, and still is a great man. He will always be an icon of The Orioles Magic Days.
