  • Last Weekend for Trup?

The Boston Globe is reporting that this might be the end for Jerry Trupiano at WEEI. While the faint voice of Ken Coleman in my head left over from the 1980s is dampened by the sound of a lawnmower, Trupiano and Castiglione have become the radio voices of the Red Sox for me. A couple years ago I moved into an apartment and elected not to get cable. Trup and Cat were my only regular vistors for an entire year. :radio

That would suck if Trup was gone. I too grew up with Ken and Joe, but I've grown to like Trup as well. I wish him luck.

I am not a fan of him, to me he sounds too much like Castiglione.

It's time for him to move on to another job in a bigger market, he has earned it.

Wow, i don't even live close to boston (philly) and i've come to value that duo...it won't touch me anything like most New Englanders, as i only had a chance to hear them like 6-7 times a year, but that'd be a shame if he leaves, regardless.

you are right though efin98, he does sound a lot like Castiglione (which is an issue for me; i hear them only rarely so it can actually confuse me from time to time)

It's not a knock against him or Castiglione as they are incredible in their knowlege and abilities to broadcast and describe the details of the game, I just prefer two contrasting voices that are uniquely different...

Maybe it's because I don't listen to as many games as the both of you, but I don't hear any similarities in their voices whatsoever.

Maybe because I've listened to them so much (especially in the car) there's no way I could confuse Castiglione's high, nasal twang with Trup's lumbering baritone. Then again, I'm a specialist in language so I have an ear for voices.

You can tell the differences at points during the game but for the bulk of the game I couldn't tell you who was saying what at that moment...must be too much TV and not enough radio or too much exposure to Coleman before he moved on...
