Damon's press conference

I just finished watching Damon's live press conference..
I knew he was an "idiot" but does that really sum up what he really is?
The guy is dumber then a brick..

he looked extremely nervous, un-prepared, and more then anything
uncomfortable.


i hate how he talked about gaining respect from the yankee fans is more important then anything.. last time i checked yankee fans boo'd the yankees
at home last year against the red sox when they were getting the crap kicked
out of them.

Well, the only thing that kind of ticked me off about the conference was his arrogance. He used to say a lot of stupid things, but being arrogant isn't something I used to think of when I thought of Johnny Damon. I guess he kept how he felt about the front office bottled up until now.

What I mean by arrogance was the way he talked when asked about his new hair. "You like the new style? I can tell, keep those bulbs popping." That wasn't the Johnny I remember, maybe I just don't remember him that well. Also, the other day during an interview, he said, "The Yankees know the importance of a good leadoff hitter and they just got the best leadoff hitter in the game." What in the...? I'm not mad at him for taking more money, I'd do the same, it's just the way he acts now.

I guess this is a shot at the Red Sox, didn't think I was so important? Guess what? I just signed with your enemies and I'm going to kill you everytime we play you. Maybe he felt left out with all the Manny talk and the trade that was done with the Marlins, and the Renteria trade as well. Can't take Johnny for granted, he's a Yankee now. That's what I got from all the interviews. Anyone else see that from him?

I think it would be funnier if instead of booing him(the expected reaction) everyone just went dead silent......not likely but I found the idea funny.

I find the dead silence thing very funny,infact I find it very appropriate although it would not happen.

A few thoughts on the press conference. I'd like to know IF a third team was really involved or was that a way for him to slither out of the fool he has turned into? I heard the Dodgers were courting him but do they have that kind of money and would they really offer him a 6 year deal? Just some food for thought here.

Another thing I noticed was his constant stuttering and obvious nervousness. He knows he was wrong, he knows he's "Johnny Judas" who no longer will be the "idiot" we all loved. He sold out and I pray NY now has the curse........Georgie Boy has collected himself a nice set of matchbox cars but we all know match box cars don't win world series, heart and soul do mixed in with the chemistry of talent that jells but once every eighty somewhat years.....as a fan I'd rather have had that one shot in humiliation and embaressment that one time in eighty somewhat years,done in style might I add, than collecting players,like matchbox cars and continuing to fail in return! 26 world series rings but none in 5 years with all that supposed talent....add in the red sox 2004 comeback not only to knock them out of the WS but to win an amazing 8 games straight.........Cowboys and Idiots they were, yes indeed!!!!!!!!!!

For those who like sophomoric entertainment alongside the noble pursuits of baseball, Johnny's defection makes me laugh because it bears so much resemblence to pro wrestling. More specificially, it's like when a good-guy wrestler suddenly becomes a bad-guy wrestler and he develops a whole new personality and look overnight. Johnny Damon was the People's Champ of beantown, and overnight he has a new corporate-friendly look and speaks in arrogant platitudes about his own talent and how impossible it will be to overcome the Yankees' offense (as if lack of offense is what held the Bombers down these last three years). The whole thing just seems comical.

You can say that to almost every player nowadays. What team is solely build out of their farm teams. Maybe a few small market teams, but that's about it.

Can you name one home grown talent besides Youkilis in the Red Sox' team? I must admit that I am not that familiar with the Red Sox as I am with the Yankees...

After what Damon said that it was so important for him to stay in Boston, I can imagine that Sox fans are angry. I would be too. But he's not the only one who does so.
