The Red Sox 15th round selection is Kentucky's U Braden Kapteyn. The Sox drafted Kapteyn 6-4 225 R/R as a first baseman, not very athletic is very strong and has very good power, however Kapteyn is also a prospect as a RHP with a fastball in the 90-92 area that tops out at 94, but is more of a thrower than a pitcher and his delivery has some effort. Kapteyn has had more sucess as a hitter than as a pitcher in collge, but some scouts like him more as a pitcher

The youngest Red Sox draft pick is RHP Deshorn Lake as he won't turn 18 yrs until October was the Sox's 12th rd selection. Lake 6-1 210 is originally from the Virgin Islands and has been in the States only for the last two years, as he has been playing H.S. ball in Virginia. Lake throws a fast ball that sits at 92-93, but lacks command and his secondary stuff is very raw, in addition his mechanics needs work.

One of the few college seniors that the Sox drafted in this draft is LHP Kevin Brahney. Brahney drafted in the 11th rd is 6-5 220 from California St Chico U. a starter in college who projects as a reliever as a pro. Brahney has a fast ball that sits 91-92 and tops out at 94 with agood curveball that has tight rotation, however he needs some work in his mechanics.
