I would like to like Damon but its hard. He backstabbed the Red Sox. He never gave the Red Sox a chance to raise the price of the Yankees. I like Damon from 2002-2005. The Damon from 2006- is a trator. Although you cant forget the 2004 championship he helped bring home. But I think in the long run it was good for the Red Sox. It cut alot form our payroll and we got Coco Crisp who could become even better than Damon and hasnt even reached his prime. Damon pretty soon will begin to decline anyway.

I voted "other". When Damon was here, I liked him...the attitude, the crazy hair, the offensive ability.
When he left for NY, it stung, but I agree that Boston should not have matched the money the Yankees threw Damon's way. By the end of that contract, he won't be worth it...in 2006, yes, but not 2009. When Boston acquired Crisp, I was thrilled....a younger version of Damon, at least talent-wise. At that point, I'd have been willing to let bygones be bygones, wish him well, and move on....but...
He hasn't shut up since he left Boston...every move the team makes, every trade, every signing, he's in the papers and on TV, whining about how the 2004 WS team got broken up. It's gotten annoying, really fast.Visit my card site at Mike D's Baseball Card Page.

I know, when Damon left, I was pissed. I am still feeling the sting,
the bitterness that arose when Johnny Damon for more
money with the team he said he would never play for. And so with good
humor and a little edge as we in Boston do, we move on, but not without
slamming the door on his way out.
So, for fun, I came up with a little something for Boston fans to let Johnny know what we think about his decision to leave Beantown for the Big Apple.

Ok, Damon aside, I'm going to paint a big target on myself and ask:
Why are fans generally so outraged when a player does this to a team, but feel like "business is business" when management does it to a player?Last edited by SoxSon; 03-28-2006, 02:37 PM."Anything less would not have been worthy of me. Anything more would not have been possible." - Carl Yastrzemski

I like the guy and respect him as a player, but SHUT YOUR MOUTH JOHNNY!! NOBODY wants to hear your take on everything the Red Sox do, remember: YOU ARE A YANKEE NOW!! I personally hope he doesn't really get booed on May 1st cuz he did help get us past the Yanks and win the World Series. But we all know that there will be plenty of booes, that's just how things go though. It's THE rivalry afterall.Back to being underdogs
