  • The Rocket back in Boston?

Read the article about Roger speaking at length with Theo and Henry.

    Could be interesting! Thoughts?

    Talk is cheap.

I wouldn't rule it out, but I would be very surprised if it happens.

He was at the Rangers' home opener.

I know talk is cheap. He said that he wasn't planning on playing, but later in the season he still might. He also said that his family is warming up to the idea of going back to Boston and living there. You don't warm up to an idea if you aren't thinking about it quite a bit. His agent said that both him and Roger have thought about winning another game in Boston which would give him the alltime lead. Right now he's at 192 tied with Cy Young. Plus Roger wants to win another championship, and the Red Sox are a great option. Here is the link.http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/...=.jsp&c_id=bos

I read that as they would warm to a return to Boston if that was his choice, not they are warming.

Again..not out of the realm, but it's still really early to put Boston as the front runner for his retun.

You didn't read the next paragraph.

"I can tell you that my two little ones are even warming up to that," Clemens said. "They're starting to make comments now that baseball season is getting under way. You can ask Deb, she had tears in her eyes watching the video they brought down, too. Boston is very special to us, no doubt about it."
Again i'm not saying its going to happen, but I certainly think he feels like he has unfinished business in Boston. With him 1 win away from the alltime lead in wins for the franchise, and he got so close, but never won a WS in Boston. Personally I don't think that guys like Clemens retire with unfinished business.

            I hope he does.

Should nail down which cap he wears into Cooperstown.

Just imagine our rotation if he did.
              Schilling
              Clemens
              Wakefield
              Beckett
              Wells or Clement

Thats at least four future hall of famers, and Beckett has a good chance to make it there too. lol. That would be a sick rotation.

That would be awsome for the Rocket to come back to Boston and becoming the all time red sox winner. But what would he do on the team? Would he go into the starting rotation for the whole season or just get a few starts in to get the win to become the red sox win leader? I still think that he is more likley to sign in Houston or Texas but I wont rule out the possibility of him coming to Boston.

It'd be an impressive rotation, but four hall of famers? Clemens is a lock. Schilling has a shot. Nobody else in that rotation is getting to Cooperstown without a ticket. Not counting Beckett, of course, for whom it's too early to tell.

Getting Clemens back would be interesting...I think he'll go to Houston if he goes anywhere, but he can still pitch, which would obviously help Boston, especially if they have a starter get hurt.

Four future Hall of Famers?! Who? Clemens, yes, then who? Schilling, maybe, but I'd say no at this point (18 years, not even 200 wins, no Cy Youngs, already 5 Hall of Fame pitchers from his era (Clemens, Maddux, Johnson, Martinez, Glavine) he needed to stay healthier). Wells? No chance. Wakefield? Ditto. Clement. Nope. Beckett? Who knows since he's still young, but he has a long way to go to be Hall of Famer.

No one thinks that Wells is getting in? He's had a good career. Even still maybe thats a stretch anyways, but Thats still a nasty rotation. Everyday if those guys are on your not going to win. lol.

I think bringing him back to become the Red Sox all-time victories leader would be a mistake. I'd love to see him come back but only if it means him helping the club to get to the playoffs and win the World Series.

What are you you talking about? Wakefield is a lock the Hall of Fame, Red Sox Hall of Fame.

He's had a good career, but nowhere near the Hall of Fame. Not with a career ERA over 4.00.

Wells may have been a Hall of Famer had he actually taken care of his body a little and put his heart more into the game. It's amazing and a testament to his natural ability that Wells has been as good as he has for as long as he has.
