    i honestly really like Choi.

he swings the bat hard and is pretty young i think.

i wouldnt mind seeing him play the 1st base role for awhile

I was hoping wholeheartedly that D. Lee would hit the free agent market. I was actually banking on using the Damon money for him. Oh well we will just have to settle for a little Youk-Choi at first for a while

Did the Red Sox wanted to sign Derek Lee?

Lee's new deal starts this season — he received about a $4 million raise over his previous $9.4 million salary — and runs through 2010. The contract is worth slightly more than the five-year, $60 million free-agent contract that Paul Konerko received from the White Sox last off-season.

Lee, a two-time Gold Glove winner and outstanding base-runner, is a better all-around player than Konerko. It is possible he could have landed an even more lucrative contract as a free agent at the end of the season, with the Red Sox potentially leading the bidding.
