Did Boston just celebrate the 60th anniversary of 1946 team?

I heard about it, on of all things, the beginning of the radio broadcast of the Yankee game.

Anyway, I've heard that Pesky (not our own, of course), Doerr and others were there. So far, nothing on redsox.com nor the Globe. Anyone hear anything?

EDIT: Someone said that it was done at the beginning of Tuesday's game.

Yeah, that's true. They brought out 6 surviving members of that squad and Pesky, naturally, was among them. This from redsox.mlb.com:

This season marks the 60th anniversary of the 1946 Red Sox run to the American League pennant, and several surviving members of that club came out to throw out a simultaneous first pitch, including a pair of 93-year-old ex-teammates, Charlie Wagner and Don Gutteridge, as well as Bobby Doerr, Eddie Pellagrini, Dave 'Boo' Ferris and Johnny Pesky.

It was mentioned on New England Cable News that Dom DiMaggio was unable to make the trek north due to illness.


A cool note: Pesky faced a baited question about the '46 World Series during a press conference and was defended quicky by his counterpart Doerr. 60 years later and they are still teammates, something I doubt you will see very much of today...
