Former Red Sox pitcher Mel Parnell passed away on Tuesday after battling cancer, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported. Parnell, 89, was a two-time All-Star (1949, '51) who pitched for Boston from 1947-56 and recorded a 123-75 record with a 3.50 ERA in 289 games (232 starts).
