I'm quite surprised that Mel Parnell made only two American League All-Star teams (1949 & 1951). His career was a relatively short ten years (1947-1956) but they were highly productive ones. He finished his pitching career with a 123-75 record and look how many of his seasons had to be categorized as very high winning percentage years:
Parnell's major league debut at age 25 was delayed by his World War Two military service, but he eventually found his groove and between ages 26 and 31 Parnell was close to unstoppable. He was also on the Red Sox broadcasting team in 1967, calling some unbelieveable game action, when the Sox almost pulled off a miracle, taking the St.Louis Cardinals to Game 7 of the World Series and YAZ won the Triple Crown.
