    BAL 79-83

Boston will score the most runs in the AL while TB will have the best pitching in the AL East. There is no way the pennant race will be this close, but it is comforting to know the Sox are likely to escape the cellar unless three or four starting pitchers need TJ surgery.
I wonder how many ABs they assumed Boston would get from Hanley?
You look at his last 4 seasons, maybe something like 400 makes sense...

Here are the top four for the Red Sox:

      Pablo Sandoval 543 ab, .291 avg , 12th
      Hanley Ramirez 481 ab, .291 avg, 14th
      Mookie Betts 333 ab, .285 avg, 20th
      Dustin Pedroia 586 ab, .284 avg, 22nd

They are expecting another down year for hitters judging from these numbers.

          • Damn, Vasquez getting a second opinion from the Grimm Reaper Dr. Andrews is never a good sign. Buchholz will start the season...hopefully he has a good year because you can only get by on potential for so long. Porcello and Miley have looked good, Masterson is what he is and Kelly stinks. Hopefully the offense can carry this team early on until the pitching figures itself out. Oh, and our closer is not ready.

                • Speaking of the outfield here's a look at BA's thru 18 games this spring training:

                  Betts .458
                  Bradley Jr .378
                  Castillo .310
                  H. Ramirez.292
                  Nava .289
                  Craig .250
                  Victorino .171

Looking good overall, but they face some tough pitchers starting next week.
