The Official 2005 White Sox Post Season Thread

Hello White Sox fans,and welcome to the post season.

This thread will be used to discuss anything and everything related to October Baseball on 35th and Shields.We may discuss anything from playoff rosters to who you would like to play or anything involving the White sox in the playoffs.

I will start this thread with this question;

Assuming the White Sox carry 11 pitchers on the playoff roster,which pitcher gets left off the playoff roster? Is it Damaso Marte? Luis Vizcaino? Who do you think?

I don't know about the pitching deal. The way Marte looked tonight it looked like he may be back in form, but the guy is just so inconsistent it's hard to be able to depend on him in pressure situations like the playoffs

Now,assuming 11 pitchers go,that would mean an extra position player.I think it's a safe bet that Willie Harris makes the playoff roster because of his speed.

But between Ross Gload and Geoff Blum,which of these two gets left off?

That's a tough one. With Gload's clutch hit the other day against the Tribe it kind of helps his case.
Here's head to head stats of each:

Looking at these numbers it looks like Ross would get the nod. He has about half as many hits in half as many games as Blum and he has a couple more RBI's in those at-bats. Other than that their stats are almost identical.

Since we have Crede and Ozuna being able to play third in the playoffs I would most likely leave Blum off the roster. In case anything happened to Paulie I would take Gload to the playoffs because he's our only first baseman besides Jermaine Dye who's very inexperienced at that position.

That makes perfect sense there.I would have to leave Blum off the roster myself if it were up to me.

Yes. This is going to be a great series and a very exciting and nerve racking one to say the least. It'll be a great pitching staff against a great hitting staff, and we all know.....pitching and defense win in the playoffs.
