  • Jenks having problems. Do you trust Cotts?

As reported on ESPN.com, Bobby Jenks is having velocity and control problems this spring. Instead of topping out at 101 mph, his fastball has been touching only 91-92 this spring. Also his control has been way out of whack and he cannot stay within the strike-zone.

If his problems continue, Ozzie said he would have no problem inserting Neal Cotts into the closers role.

    What do you think?

What the Eastern Seaboard Programming Network didn't report is that Jenks has been absolutely lights out up until his last 2 outings. It's true that he's only been topping out in the low to mid-90s.

I don't think that this is any cause for concern here right now.Remember, this is only spring training.

BTW,if worse comes to worse,I'm totally comfortable with Cotts.I just don't think that it will come down to that.

totally agree. And besides, this is what spring training is for, solving problems like this. And all pitchers velocitys are down in spring training. I really have no concern. Oh yeah, and since these chuck norris jokes are getting old, I've decided to put bobby jenks name instead.

All ESPN does is negitive, i agree with Chisox73 (sorry havnt cought your name) They never talk about how good he was befor those outings. but if Jenks would fall, Cotts is an unbealivable pitcher, but hasnt realy had any expeirence in the closing spot, so i woulnt be shure what to expect

Jenks said himself to whitesox.com that he hasn't had the world's greatest spring,as far as his velocity is concerned. He says that one day he'll top out at 95,then the next,he'll be flat out there.

Jenks is sceduled to see plenty of action for this last week of spring training.

He'll be just fine.I have no doubt that he'll be ready and firing on all cylinders come April 2.
