Recommendations for fans attending opening series games
The World Series Champion Chicago White Sox are making the following recommendations to fans attending next week's Opening Series games against the Cleveland Indians:
• Opening Night is Sunday, April 2 at 7:05 p.m.; Opening Day is Tuesday, April 4 at 1:05 p.m.; and the Opening Series finale is Wednesday, April 5 at 1:05 p.m.
• Capacity crowds are expected Sunday and Tuesday. Fans not holding tickets should not come to the ballpark. Limited tickets for Wednesday are available online at whitesox.com or through Ticketmaster phone lines at (866) SOX-GAME.
• IDOT has announced a large-scale reconstruction of the Dan Ryan Expressway beginning March 31, with the elimination of three of the six incoming and outgoing lanes. This will have a significant impact on car traffic near U.S. Cellular Field. Fans should visit whitesox.com or danryanexpressway.com to explore alternate routes or direct routes to parking lots.
• Fans should allow extra time and plan to arrive at the ballpark early to minimize delays. Gates to the ballpark will open two hours before each game of the series. On Sunday, Rally Socks from U.S. Cellular will be given to the first 20,000 fans; on Tuesday, Replica World Series rings from Pepsi; and on Wednesday, replica World Series trophies from DHL.
• The White Sox strongly recommend that fans utilize public transportation. The CTA Red Line stops near the ballpark at 35th Street, and the Green Line is two blocks further east. The CTA will be adding additional cars to Red and Green Line trains.
• Fans holding reserved parking coupons should display the coupons prominently as they approach the ballpark. Prepaid green coupons are accepted in Lots F and L only and prepaid red coupons are accepted in Lots A, B, C and G.
• Cash parking will be extremely limited (Lots F and L only). Fans seeking cash parking should follow directional signs to available lots. Cash parking is $18.
• Free shuttle service will be available Tuesday and Wednesday from McCormick Place (31st and Moe Drive).
• Tailgating is permitted all three days in Lots A-F. Lots A, C and G will open three hours before game time. Tailgating during and after games is prohibited.
• The center field Fan Deck and the Pontiac Fundamentals Area both will be closed for private parties on Sunday, April 2 and will re-open to the public on Tuesday, April 4.
• On Tuesday and Wednesday, fans can park in Lot A beginning at 6:00 a.m., take the El to work, and return to the ballpark for the game. Lot A is accessible from Wentworth Avenue between 33rd and 35th streets.
• In accordance with the City of Chicago's Clean Indoor Act of 2005, smoking now is prohibited in virtually all areas of U.S. Cellular Field. Smoking will be allowed in clearly-marked areas on ramps 2, 3, 5 and 6 only.
• Fans holding tickets for the upper level will not be able to access other levels of the ballpark. This policy ensures that fans safely and comfortably enjoy the game with access to the areas of the ballpark where they bought tickets.
• Finally, the White Sox ask fans to be respectful of the neighborhood and homes surrounding the ballpark before and after games.
• Alcohol should not be taken from the park or consumed on public ways.
