I'm inquiring as to the photo that you posted on Baseball fever for Tip O'Neill, caption reads "white sox baseball player, 1908."

James Edward "Tip" O'Neill, the 19th century player, played for Chicago Pirates in 1890. I've checked Total Baseball to see if there was another Tip O'Neill who played for Chicago then, and couldn't find him?

Do you think it could be James Edward Tip O'Neill player 1883-1892 (one year with Chicago, most others with St. Louis Browns)?

            caption error

As to # 50, This is Ed Delahanty as a member of Was AL in 1902, a year in which he won the AL batting title. He never played for the White Sox and died in 1903.

Pretty amazing photos here. I never noticed this thread before.
"(Shoeless Joe Jackson's fall from grace is one of the real tragedies of baseball. I always thought he was more sinned against than sinning." -- Connie Mack

"I have the ultimate respect for Whitesox fans. They were as miserable as the Cubs and Redsox fans ever were but always had the good decency to keep it to themselves. And when they finally won the World Series, they celebrated without annoying every other fan in the country."--Jim Caple, ESPN (Jan. 12, 2011)
