  • White Sox 2006 Random Notes

    This thread will highlight some random stuff that concerns the White Sox for the 2006 season.This may include odd stats,tidbits,historical footnotes,etc.Hope you enjoy.

    Prior to tonight's game in Kansas City,the White Sox traveling party was treated to a tour of the Negro League Hall of Fame in Kansas City.Bob Kendrick,Director of Marketing for the museum led the tour with historical perspective from legendary Negro Leaguer Buck O'Neill.Manager Ozzie Guillen was presented with the CI Taylor Manager of the Year Award,while GM Kenny Williams was presented with the Andrew "Rube" Foster Baseball Executive of the Year Award.

    Jim Thome became the 1st Sox player since 1951 to homer in his first 2 games of the season.Al Zarilla was the olny other Sox player to hit homers in the 1st 2 games of the season.

    The total distance of Thome's 2 blasts comes out to 879 feet(431 feet Sunday,and 448 ft. shot that cleared the right field bleachers on Tuesday).

    The 1st 2 games of the Cleveland series this week marked the 1st time in franchise history that the 1st 2 games of the season were sold out.

    The Opening Series total attendance of 109,979 was thier largest April series attendance since the New Comiskey Park opened in April of 1991.That 3-game series vs. Detroit drew 110,500 on April 22-24,1991.
