This is by far the biggest series of the year for both teams. The way Detroit has been beating the Sox, I'd be happy with a split.

"I have the ultimate respect for Whitesox fans. They were as miserable as the Cubs and Redsox fans ever were but always had the good decency to keep it to themselves. And when they finally won the World Series, they celebrated without annoying every other fan in the country."--Jim Caple, ESPN (Jan. 12, 2011)

Well, too late for a split. My heart sank when I learned Gavin Floyd was starting last night's game. I've about given up on him, I wish the Sox would, too. Now they have to deal with Verlander tonight.

If we can't beat the team we need to beat in our own division, we're not going anywhere in the playoffs, either.

It's not gonna be easy but the Sox play em tonight with Sale going against Verlander. They have a chance for a split.

Oops, you're right, I didn't realize it's a four-game series. That's what happens when you try to follow your team from 800 miles away.

Well it wasn't easy but the Sox got the split and there up three games in the standings. Bullpen did a great job to seal that one.

Gonna be interesting to see if the Sox can hold off the Tigers. After these final 2 games against Oakland, Detroit's final 13 are against just the Royals and Twins.
