  • Whitesox to wear 1983 uniforms on Sunday home games.

I wonder what uniform they will use next year. I was hoping the Sox would celebrate the 1977 Southside Hitmen uniforms.

I wonder how much of a hatchet job Majestic will do with it?

If only Ozzie Guillen had been on the '83 Sox instead of Dybzinksi and Fletcher...they probably would have won the Series. I was at the playoff game against the Orioles where Burns pitched 9 scoreless innings and Dybzinski overran second base in the bottom of the 9th to kill the rally. Argh.

Most of the '83 Sox didn't look quite as good in those uni's--Greg Luzinski and Lamarr Hoyt did not need horizontal stripes as part of their wardrobe!

Yeah it's to bad they lost that year because I have no doubt they would have beaten the Phillies.

The '83 ChiSox tried to run wild on the bases against a team that could just plain execute on defense...it was a terrible match for them.

And don't forget Luzinski in the 10th, standing there watching three strikes go by. :hissyfit:

Give Bull a break, he was just starving that late in the game and White Castle didn't deliver...

Yes, I remember it all too well. He looked like a bloated statue.

It's okay, 2005 made up for it. Podsednik must have taken the swing that Bull neglected to make.

Looks like the White Sox half-assed it, no sansabelt pants. Boo.

When teams talk about wearing old-style uniforms these days, they always just mean the color/logo designs, never structural designs or cuts.

No. Not all the time. Sansabelt pants have been worn during "retro" games. In fact just yesterday, the Michigan Wolverines wore v-neck pullover jerseys with sansabelt pants. Believe me, I pay attention to this sort of thing.

I would say that uniform looks alot better than the ones they wore in 83. Sansbelts would make that uniform look ugly.

Uh right, the sansabelt pants would make them ugly, okay...

I can live with the v-necks although I prefer buttoned uniforms but sansabelts look terrible and I would have to think most agree. I wore sansabelt uniforms and I thought they were ugly and uncomfortable. I remember my buddys and I used to actually be jealous of our fathers baseball uniforms that they wore in the 50's and 60's. I seriously doubt kids from any generation would be jealous of their fathers baseball uniforms except for the generation I grew up in. I bet kids today even make fun of baseball uniforms from the 80's kinda like how I made fun of my parents bell bottoms.
