Dec. 6: 17 game winner, with over 200 strikeouts, Carlos Carrasco was gven an extension through 2022, with an option for 2023 today by cleveland. He's definitely in "the one who got away' category for my team, the philadel[pha phillies. It was a big mistake by the phils to include him in a trade back in '09 before he ever reached the majors..

Dec. 15: It is the 98th birthday of 1B Eddie Robinson, the last surviving member of the 1948 World Series-winning Cleveland Indians team. (The Indians' last World Series winner). He's a Purple Heart recipient, who survived serious War Wounds in the Pacific Front to have an excellent career. He was the Indians starting first baseman in '48, made four American League all-star teams (1949, 1951, '52 & '53) and played all or parts of 13 seasons in the majors (Partial Seasons: 1942 & 1946. - Complete Seasons: 1947-1957 - all with American League teams).. Wikipedia ranks him as the 5th oldest currently living major leagues player.
Robinson wound up playing for 7 of the 8 American League teams then in existence (and Zero National league teams) in the 16 team majors and the days of the 154 game schedule of the Pre-Expansion Era which began in 1961. The only A. L. team Robinson never played for was the Boston Red Sox..
I hate to point fingers, but Casey Stengel needlessly reduced Robinson from an all-star with about 650 plate appearances in 1953 with the Philadelphia Athletics to a platoon player with about 250 plate appearances when the Yankees acquired Robinson for the 1954 season.
