  • Cecil Fielder

I read somewhere that Cecil wants to return to the Tiger organization in pretty much any capacity. After some phone tag with DD, the ball is rolling and DD said he might have something for him by June. Cecil would like to be a roving hitting instructor, but hasn't been promised anything as of yet. He's been spending his time working with his son Prince, who'll be the Brewers starting 1B and is one of the best prospects in baseball. Cecil also says he couldn't see himself with any other organization, and holds alot of pride in being a Tiger.

I say we should definetely find a place for any former star if they want one. Cecil was always a class guy and his girth made him more relatable to myself and many other fans. Only good could come with bringing this guy back.

He was one of the few players people would stop whatever they were doing and pay attention to when he came to bat. That is the sign of a star.

      Gambling Problems

Unfortunately for Cecil Fielder, he has one of the few addictions that makes him nearly disqualified for any job in MLB. He lost all his money and his home in FLA. I know two people who are addicted to gambling; I don't do any business with them or want them anywhere near my home. There is no limit to what they will do wthout conscience.
In the 1920's, Harry Heilmann led the AL with a .364 average. In addition, he averaged 220 hits, 45 doubles, 12 triples, 16 homers, 110 runs, and 130 RBI.

So he should just be thrown on the s--tpile? The man was the most exciting thing to happen to Tiger baseball in the '90s.

I have no idea of his qualifications, but everyone deserves a chance to make amends and earn a living doing what he does best.

He's not thown out. He made over $100M. I'd say, he had his chances.

I thought Cecil and his son Prince were estranged. Did they get back together recently?

Cecil wants to come to Detroit because no other baseball city may hire him in any capacity.

With Detroit's three casinos nearby to Comerica Park, I would not have any problem with Fielder working for the Tigers organization - as long as he agrees to an employment provision that terminates his employment should he step inside any gambling house in America.

              I have a 2nd request also!
Please do not hire Cecil as a radio and/or television play-by-play announcer or color analyst. He's been there & done that on a part time basis a few years ago.

Cecil behind a microphone comes across as very soft-spoken - very boring.
