  • Lack of scoring

Held to fewer than 3 runs in six games. What's going wrong here? Everyone thought this was another Murderer's Row lineup before the season started, and that scoring would not be a problem.

It's Leyland .... he has run his course... look at his record of moving on.. can't stay in one place.... the Leyland/players honeymoon is over... forget the payroll it means nothing
Hitting is timing. Pitching is upsetting timing. ~Warren Spahn
Some people are born on third base and go through life thinking they hit a triple. ~Barry Switzer
Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off... the right pitch will come, but when it does, be prepared to run the bases. ~Rick Maksian

I suggest a trade. Jim Leyland for Charlie Manuel.

Pitching and defense win ballgames-not hitting. Hitters are more likely to slump than pitchers, so if you try to win with hitting, that puts you in a bd position. The Yanks tried to do that, and as a resualt, they've lost their last 4 playoff series.

Yet they still made it. Pitching and defense are crucial, sure. But it takes offense to score runs, which is how ball games are won. The Tigers, despite their lineup, are not hitting. Until that is remedied, they're going to be in trouble.

Nice to see you back, ted. Kind of not surprising, though, in light of what's happned in this very young season so far. Those of us who are actually Tiger fans are not going to give up that quickly. See you in a couple months. Then maybe an accurate assessement can be made as to whether or not it's Leyand's fault.

Sheffield, Polanco, Cabrera, and Jones are all in big slumps. Hopefully it will turn around when they start hitting. The starting pitcher needs to get better. Fire Chuck Hernandez!

Of course, I post this thread and they bust out with 11. No need to thank me. Now can a Tigers fan please post in the Mets forum asking what's going wrong with them? Figured it was worth a shot.

Nah, that doesn't work. I'm a fan of both teams and look how much good I've done...
