He is just a young guy having fun. The only way he will ruin his career drinking is if he drives drunk.

That's right ! Mickey Mantle hit 536 home runs and drank every day. Oh ... wait ... maybe I should say; Mickey Mantle only hit 536 home runs because he drank every day...maybe I should add that he was finished at 36, broke down and useless because he drank.

but what the heck, right ? .... Party On Dude !

Yeah, he better start using HGH and forget the beer if he wants to have a decent career.

I think this is about as much of a non-issue as the pics of Matt Leinart parting with a few young women and enjoying himself. Drinking doesn't automatically make him a lesser player, just like going to church and being a teetotaler doesn't make you a Hall of Famer.

it's not the beer itself that will ruin his career because hey who doesnt love beer! it's the party boy mindset, as a majorleaguer he has to put college habits behind him becuase the seasons are long and he has yet to prove he is agile enough to make it through one. so first he should worry about his bpody then when he has that down he can play guitar hero and drink.

Have you seen photos of the Red Sox celebrations from last year? I'm not too worried, but there is a bit of truth in Zumaya needing to mature.

I just hope this picture was taken before his shoulder injury. I mean keg stands can't be something the doctors would recommend he take part in if his shoulder was recovering?

The Doc says, "while you are in recovery Mr. Zumaya please refrain from doing keg stands, and stick solely to beer bongs." Hey, it works for Matt Leinart's underaged chicks.

I am usually the guy who defends players rights for living their own lives...like when that Guitar Hero garbage came out I was on Zumaya's side since baseball...although great, is just one part of a player's life. On the other hand, I am not a fan of binge drinking and stupid stuff like keg stands. So here, I have no idea where I stand. Like someone said though, as long as he doesn't get in a car and drive or give away liquor to people who do then I guess I am ok with it.

but to be honest...it would be nice to have him right now in Detroit!
"Batting stats and pitching stats do not indicate the quality of play, merely which part of that struggle is dominant at the moment."

To be blunt, I never bought the "Guitar Hero" or "moving boxes" excuses when it comes to Zumaya. And to tell the truth and shame the Devil, as my Grandmomma used to say, I never though he was more than a one year wonder.

I do hope I'm wrong however.

More like a keglean than a kegstand.

Don't believe the moving boxes one, that's rough. I mean you did watch the news around the time the injury happened, right??? All of the San Diego area was either on fire or had the threat of being caught on fire. Joel comes from and his family still lives in that area. Now, I certainly am not a medical expert or a detective, but his "excuse" certainly holds more water in my eyes than Jeff Kent washing his monster truck.

I'm sorry, when was prohibition brought back? These are all adults practicing a legal activity.

I'm sure the site creator is of such perfect virtue and so close to his/her great reward they have the right to condemn what they don't approve of. Quite a glass house.
