Magglio Ordonez, a member of last year's A.L. Central division winning Tigers and a Tiger for the last seven seasons tweeted (in Spanish) that he is close to announcing his retirement. His career has been spent in roughly equal halves with seven and a fraction seasons with the Chicago White sox (1997-2004) and seven full seasons with the Tigers ((2005-2011). He hit .363 in 2007 to win the American league batting championship while with Detroit. He has 2156 hits, 294 home runs and a .309 lifetime batting average.

He'll go down in Tigers history for his ALCS-winning blast in 2006 and had some fine seasons when healthy. There was a time while with Chicago he was regarded as one of the best up-and-coming players in the league. A coulda been as far as the HOF goes, but a fine player.
