  • Can the tigers win 100?

What do you think? I think they can do it similar to philly last year. they are probably the best team playing in probably the weakest division in baseball. they also have the best player and probably also the best pitcher in baseball.

I think they can win 100 but of course then everything has to go right. the team certainly has the talent.

"Can" or "will"? The thread's title and poll do not match. I'd say 1/3 of the teams in the league "could" win 100 with extreme health and a little luck. How many "will"? A few at the most.

Yes, they can. I would never predict any given team "will" since a lot of things have to go right for any team to win 100 games.

        Article.

Several career years did not get the Tigers 100 wins last year. They added a big bat, but only did so because they had to replace one of those career years. Will everything fall into place two years in a row, and to the point where they exceed what happened last year? I expect the Tigers to win the division this year but 100 games is not something I would expect unless the younger players hit much better than last year.

Right - betting any team to get to 100 wins is not a good bet, regardless of how good they are. It would be like taking Kentucky over the field. Even though they were the best (and eventually won), it is still not a safe bet.

The Tigers, who walloped the league the first week are now on pace for a 85-77 record.

                What does this all mean?

That 5, 10, or even 20 games tells us very little about a team. Serious stabs at win projections should not even begin until half-way through the year. Are the Tigers a 109 win team. Come on now. Are they an 85-win team. No, they are likely much better. Only time will tell.
