(April 26) - Happy 95th birthday to Virgil Trucks, a star of the Detroit tigers' 1945 World Series championship team. He returned from two years of military service to start the pennant clincher on the final day of the 1945 season and pitch the Tigers to a 4-1 victory in Game Two of the World Series over the Chicago Cubs.
He was a two-time all-star, one-time 20-game winner and two-time 19-game winner. Trucks accomplished the rare feat of pitching two no-hitters in one season (1952).
