  • Time for Leyland to 'retire' ?

Can't believe losing to the Twins tonight. this team has no fire..no passion...like treading water..
I do believe..it might be time to let Leyland go....Myself, I would go after the former RED SOX
skipper Terry F. This club needs to be woke up outta it's slumber...toooo much talent to be
    under .500

That's the big issue. Are they going to be able to land a good manager midseason? While I don't think having Francona as manager is a bad thing, he has to have a bitter taste in his mouth from they way it ended in Boston. Remember, the Red Sox kind of went in the tank the last part of the season, not exactly playing the inspired ball we want from the Tigers. So it's not like his armor is exactly shining, itself.

Maybe we just haven't really ehard it, but there isn't a bunch of malcontents on the team right now. I'm not sure what letting Leyland go now would do, but I really don't want to see him back in 2013. I keep saying Fister is going to snap out of it. He hasn't. The whole staff needs overhauling.

Even if the Tigers do get hot, finally get past .500 and actually contend, I'd like a change in direction. Leyland is a good manager when things are going right, but right now it's not close.

overall Terry had a great run in Boston...two championships, several playoff appearances etc...the team with help from the gm.lame owner..help the RED SOX tank..The mgr was the scrapegoat. I like Leyland, but I think this team needs a real change of direction..we went thru this in 2007, and 2012 could be even more ugly. the only reason the trigger has not been pulled..is the status of both the Chi-Sox, and tribe...heck, even the TWINS are only 8 games back...if a team gets real hot,and the Tigers continue this ying/yang...the trigger will get pulled..

Francona had some great horses to run with in Boston, as well. Better than what Leyland has ever had no matter where he has been, for the most part. However, that does not change the fact the Tigers have, essentially, underachieved in Leyland's run here. This year, especially.

I don't expect him to be fired befoe the season ends, though. I just don't. He'll be allowed to walk once the season ends regardless of how it turns out.

It sounds like a change might be good for the Tigers but I still think they will win the Central. I dont think Prince Fielder has gotten going yet. This series vs the Whitesox coming up could show alot.
"(Shoeless Joe Jackson's fall from grace is one of the real tragedies of baseball. I always thought he was more sinned against than sinning." -- Connie Mack

"I have the ultimate respect for Whitesox fans. They were as miserable as the Cubs and Redsox fans ever were but always had the good decency to keep it to themselves. And when they finally won the World Series, they celebrated without annoying every other fan in the country."--Jim Caple, ESPN (Jan. 12, 2011)

Even as a National League fan and outsider to the Tigers/Leyland situation, I've wondered the same thing myself.
