  • Jim Leyland's Heady Heights

Riding a winning streak, the Detroit Tigers are now leading the Ameican League Central division by one-half game, which seemed pretty unlikely only a few short weeks ago.
The hot streak has raised Jim Leyland's lifetime managerial record to the heady heights of 10 games over .500 at 1639-1629, .502 winning percnatage (.5015). Now we'll see, as my father used to say when a losing team suddenly put together a good streak, if Jim and the Tigers "Can stand Prosperity".
(When I was a kid and fledgling fan, just becoming interested in baseball, when a losing team got hot but then regressed back to their losing ways (often applicable to the Phillies) my dad used to say:
"Some people just can't stand a little prosperity").
