I think he will end up with about a 3.3 ERA and finish like 6th in the CY voting.
Yu Darvish
Felix Hernandez
Hisashi Iwakuma
Chris Sale
Max Scherzer
Clay Bucholtz
Justin Masterson
James Shields
Matt Moore
Hiroki Kuroda
...and a handful of closers will probably end up higher in the voting.

Scherzer has better numbers across the board than JV this year though. He's leading the team in K rate, and is the only Tiger with a WHIP under 1.0. His ERA doesn't reflect it so much because he gives up home runs, but there's a lot of season left. If he had a lower ERA, he'd be a shoo-in for the Cy Young award of the first half. We'll just halve it and call it the Cy. If he keeps it up, he'll have the Cy and the Young in November, good lord willing. And Clay Buchholz.

It will go down as one of the great deals in Tigers history, no doubt.

He's picked up right where he left off, posting a 2.84 ERA with a league-leading 30 strikeouts (in only 19 innings) to start the season. He's an All-Star quality pitcher, I hope he makes a few Games in his career.

I loved the move for the Tigers that got Scherzer there. Nobody questioned his ability - just his durability. He's a high-K guy and should have a very productive future.

I don't know what he did but it really seems to have worked. He's this years Doug Fister for the Tigers.

Max Scherzer
What an incredible turnaround this guy has had, huh? Through the end of May, his ERA was 5.55. Through the end of June, it was 4.98, through the end of July it was 4.62 and through the end of August it was 4.13. In just his six starts, he is 5-0 with a 1.80 ERA with 53 strikeouts and only 10 walks in 40 innings of work. Gotta give him props for doing so well of late.Tags: None
