Les Moss

I just read that former Tigers manager Les Moss died at the age of 87.
Moss was the first manager for the 1979 Detroit Tigers. He was replaced in mid June
by Sparky Anderson.
Moss had the Tigers in third place at the time of his replacement.

The oldest living Tiger manager is between Dick Tracewski who managed a couple games
between Les Moss and Sparky Anderson in 1979; and replaced Anderson in 1989 when
Sparky had exhaustion and Buddy Bell who managed the Tigers in 1996-1998

I've always maintained that Moss got a raw deal being fired immediately after winning ten of fifteen games (IIRC) on a tough West Coast road trip. GM Jim Campbell couldn't resist the opportunity to get who he thought was one of baseball's great managers in Sparky.
