  • John Buck playing for something.

The last few years Buck has had a easy starting position with not much competition at the catching position. This year the royals have signed Miguel Olivio and they have a talented Matt Tupman compeating for the job. Do you think Buck might lose his starting spot if he struggles at the plate like the past few years?

Too early to tell, catching is the toughest job and as you get older it gets tougher. Doesn't hurt to have back up. Having said that he's a fan favorite so I would hate to see him lose his position. :gt

I think anything is possible. The thing that just feels different about this year, to me, is the focus on playing solid fundamental baseball and getting results. While Hillman stated early on that Buck was the starting catcher, if he feels Buck (or anyone else for that matter) isn't doing the job, I believe he will make the changes necessary to improve.

I don't think Buck is too terrified of Miquel Olivo's .680 career OPS.

Yeah, I wonder about Pena too. I always have very high hopes for him. I like him, but when it comes to connecting the bat with the ball, he always seems to fall short. I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see more of German and Callaspo.

They took Pena and Buck out and still lost. Let's hope Bannister can
                pitch another winner. :gt

Buck had a great outing last night against the Blue Jays. Fun game to watch.
Let's see if they can keep up the adrenaline. :gt:gt
