Didn't think so. I'll see you again tomorrow night around the top of the ninth."

It would be shame. He is only nearly 32. That is too young to retire for any player

Way too young, the guy's gone from closing to starting to closing to starting, twice. Smoltz like. Hoping that he gets back.

Dangit.... That's terrible. He was right in the middle of the Cy Young hunt most of last year! What a loss for the sport of baseball if he's done./.

At least the Angels have John Garland now. Great start last night. 8 quality innings.

Escobar could be cleared to try throwing again "sometime at the end of this week," Manager Mike Scioscia said.

"That's the time frame we were given — but that's in pencil," Scioscia said. "He's been making progress, getting his strength back, his range of motion. Hopefully this time when he picks up a ball it'll feel a lot better and he'll be able to keep progressing on a throwing program."

Scioscia said there has been no recent discussion of surgery for Escobar.

According to Elias Sports Bureau, the Angels are the only team since 1900 to start one season (for 30 games or more) without two pitchers who won at least 18 games apiece for that team the previous season. Lackey won 19 games and Escobar 18 last season.

Escobar was suppose to start last night in the minors. Do any of you know how he did?

It's a shame if true but the article sounded like he was more scared than anything else. He's young enough to go through the surgery, do the rehab, and return for a number of years. We will have to wait and see.

And he is in the middle of the guaranteed 3-year $28.5M contract.

"I never thought home runs were all that exciting. I still think the triple is the most exciting thing in baseball. To me, a triple is like a guy taking the ball on his 1-yard line and running 99 yards for a touchdown." -Hank Aaron
