I have to cite the Great effort by Torii Hunter recently in an unsuccessful attempt to stave off the Angels' elimination from the postseason.
He went 9 for 13 with 4 RBI in the Angels last three games, including a 7 for 9 effort in Sunday's doubleheader (9/30).
Hunter raised his average to .314 with two games to play. It tops his previous career-best batting average of .299 in 2009 by a substantial margin.
Hunter is now lined up to reach the 2,000 games, 2,000 hits and 300 home runs career milestones early next season. Currently he has 297 home runs and 1986 hits in 1946 MLB career games.
