    Cueto:

    Mr. Cueto, 74, of Charlotte, NC, passed away suddenly Tuesday, October 25, 2011.

    Dag was born August 14, 1937 in San Luis, Pinar del Rio, Cuba to Ceferino Concepcion and Pura Rosa Cueto. Dag's passions in life were his family, baseball and tending his garden. Dag played professional baseball for 9 years, playing for the Charlotte Hornets in 1958, where he met his beloved wife, Brenda. He eventually made it to the major leagues playing for the Minnesota Twins in 1961.

    After his professional career he continued to play locally for many teams until age 69, including the Kings Gym baseball team helping them win several Roy Hobbs World Series. He worked for many years with Haverty's Furniture and most recently with Embree-Reed, Inc.

    Bertoia:

    WINDSOR, Ont. -- Reno Bertoia, a Windsor baseball legend and former member of the Detroit Tigers, died Friday morning at Windsor Regional hospital..

    A member of three different halls of fame, Bertoia was diagnosed with lymphoma in February.

    Born in Italy, Bertoia came to Windsor with his family as an infant.

    In 1953 the promising young infielder signed with the Detroit Tigers.
