  • Idea for pitching rotation next year.

Since our roation seems to be filled with people who have problems with arm wearing down and injuries aka Mussina Wright Pavono Chacon Wang why not we go with a six man roation instead of five. We could go:
    1.Johnson
    2.Mussina
    3.Pavono
    4.Chacon
    5.Wang
    6.Wright
Maybe doing this we would keep the arms fresher and healthier meaning less injuries and more energy for post season??? What do you think???

I dont like that. We need to stick with 5, with 6 too many guys would get rusty, you have to also consider that majority of the time an off day will be thrown in there so these guys will a lot of the times be pitching on 6 days rest...NO GOOD

    I say go with this:

    Johnson
    Mussina
    Wang
    Pavano
    Chacon

Throw Small and Wright in the bullpen. Small can be an effective long man and Wright's power arm could do us some good in the pen.

It's good to have pitching depth. You never know about injuries and effectiveness. I hope that they all stay healthy and pitch well. If they don't then I could see the Yankees going after a front line starter.

We need to go after barry zito he is in the last year of his contract and the As dunt think they can resign him. We should trade for him and try to resign him. If we do get him we would have
                1.Johnson
                2.Zito
                3.Mussina
                4.Wang
                5.Chacon

                LRP Pavono
                LRP Wright
                LRP Small

this roation might be able to make yankees unbeatable again and why didn't we go after beckett

Because the asking price for Beckett was Cano and/ or Wang, not too mention we'd have to take on Mike Lowell as well. I'm a big doubter of how successful Beckett will be for the Sox anyway........

As for Zito. No way. I'd love to have the guy but we'd have to deal with Beane and you know he wouldn't come cheap.

As for Roger, I can see it now the offensive is keeping the team above water in the playoff race but the pitching has fallen apart. Then midseason the Yanks sign him up and he anchors the staff all the way to another WS.
Or at least that's how my story would go........

Me Too, I am against signing any more pitchers due to the number of guys we have already...but I would gladly make an exception for my hero!!

As nice as Zito sounds, we cant get any more pitchers without unloading some (which would likely be the case if we were to trade for Zito, which wont happen). Also, Pavano wouldnt pitch out of the pen, he would start over Chacon or be traded. Another thing...in the rotation you have listed up there why would you have the only 2 lefties in the rotation going back to back, you should mix them up, make it:
                    Johnson
                    Mussina
                    Zito
                    Wang
                    Pavano/Chacon

Also, im glad we didnt go after Beckett, since 2003 he has been nothing bit inconsistant..thats when he is on the field.

                      1.Mussina ( i like him better then Johnson )
                      2.Johnson ( gettin old )
                      3.Pavono ( hopefully won't get injured this year )
                      4.Chacon ( i like him and hes reliable )
                      5.Wang ( potential )
6.Small ( he proved himself worthy last year, I think )

Personally i also like the six man rotation stragety.

Chacon can fit in when someone of the starting rotation will be injured.

Beckett inconsistant? He was 15-8 last season with an ERA of 3.37 and striked out 166 men in 178.2 IP last season, too. That's not inconsistant, that's what most people call good for a starting pitching. The only question about Beckett is his injury problems with his shoulder and blister, not his talent and consistant starting pitching.

I doubt Zito will be a Yankee in 06, but in 07? That's possible. I don't see the A's dealing Zito to the Yankees unless the Yankees dangled a prospect the A's really wanted and if the A's are out of the race around the trading deadline. Still, I doubt the A's would deal with the Yankees, because we know how much Beane like the Yankees.

                            1. Johnson
                            2. Mussina
                            3. Wang
                            4. Chacon
                            5. Pavano

Small the back-up starter before Wright, because of what Small did last year. Though, we have to admit Wright did look solid last year after he return from injury and before he was knocked out again by injury. Of course, I still think both Small and Wright had fluke seasons last year when they were good.

I like Chacon, as I've stated many times. Cashman stole this dude from Rockies and most people thought he was a reject. Well, most people think pitchers from the Rockies are rejects, but not Chacon. Once he got out of the pitcher's hell hole of Coors Field, I knew he was going to be a solid starting pitcher. He need to be in this rotation start of next season.

Pavano need to prove he's not just some fluke himself. I still think he is, but you never know, he might surprise people next year. If he's a bust again, I don't expect the Yankees to be able to get much for him as they are at this current moment. Keep your fingers cross with Pavano. I knew his signing was going to be troublesome, glad the Sox didn't get him last season.

                            1.Mussina ( i like him better then Johnson )
                            2.Johnson ( gettin old )
                            They're both getting old.

I still think Pavano will be dealt before the season begins.
